Myliobatis dixoni Agassiz, 1843

31 mm

#3108 Myliobatiformes / Myliobatidae

Identification - Virginia Publication 152: page 44, plate 3.1

Aspect ratio (length/width) of about 4/1.

There are at least two other species of Myliobatis  found at the site.  They are narrower with an aspect ration of greater than 5/1.

Virginia Publication 152 identifies them as M. latidens and M. striatus.

Elasmo.com says that the M. latidens and M. striatus in Virginia Publication 152 are really both M. latidens and another species, M. toliapicus is present.

If I can figure these out, I will add them to the website.
